Lillian Born Norberg and Mary Lou Atkinson Staff Support Scholarship
CRITERIA AND APPLICATION FORM
The Lillian Born Norberg and Mary Lou Atkinson Staff Support Scholarships are offered to full or part-time employees of a public, academic, or special library in Oklahoma who are in the process of furthering their education.
Eligibility and Requirements
- Applicants must be currently employed at a public, academic, or special library in the state of Oklahoma.
- Full or part-time employees are eligible for consideration.
- Applicants must enroll in credit coursework, or certificates that accomplish educational goals at either a graduate school, a four-year college or university, or community college.
- Priority is given to education for students enrolled in one of the five library programs in Oklahoma colleges: OU School of Library and Information Studies; NSU Library Media & Information Technology; UCO Library Media Education; OSU Educational Technology, School Library Media; ECU Library Media; or Rose State College Library Technical Assistant. Priority may be given for graduate studies.
- Include proof of enrollment and completion of coursework (unofficial transcript).
- Complete the application form.
- Submit an original, not AI generated or assisted, essay.
Essay Requirement: One- to two-page response that includes these topics:
- Describe your educational objectives and library career goals.
- Describe any special skills, certificates, experience, special projects, awards, or publications that pertain to your previous, current and/or expected future library work.
- Explain how support from the Lillian Born Norberg and Mary Lou Atkinson Staff Support Scholarship would help you achieve your career goals and objectives.
The deadline for submission of applications is January 23, 2026. Selection will be made by a committee comprised of FOLIO Board Members. The scholarship amount will be a minimum of $1000.00 for up to three recipients, depending on committee selections.
Scholarship awards will be presented during the OLA Annual Conference at the FOLIO Author Talk and Awards Ceremony. (Winners will be invited to lunch. Winners do not need to be present to win.)

APPLICATION DEADLINE: January 23, 2026. Awards will be presented at the FOLIO Author Talk and Awards Ceremony during the OLA Annual Conference. Recipients are encouraged (but not required) to attend the Awards Ceremony in person.
