The mission of FOLIO is to strengthen libraries in Oklahoma through Friends of Libraries.

FOLIO proudly invests in Friends of Libraries (FOLs) and libraries by:

• Connecting and promoting Oklahoma FOLs
• Recognizing exemplary FOLs
• Recognizing FOL Week activities
• Offering Seed Grants for new FOLs
• Offering scholarships for Oklahoma librarians
• Developing Oklahoma’s nationally recognized Oklahoma Literary Sites
• Providing Outreach Ambassadors to FOLs
• Advocating for libraries

At the Governor’s Conference on Libraries in 1978, a proclamation called for a state Friends of the Library to be formed. From that proclamation came the original Board and Membership of Friends of Libraries in Oklahoma (FOLIO).
