Read Across America Day

Celebrate the magic of reading with us on March 2nd for Read Across America Day

Dive into enchanting stories, discover new adventures, and share the joy of reading with friends and family. This special day, inspired by Dr. Seuss's birthday, is all about fostering a love for books and building a community of readers.

The day was established by the National Education Association (NEA) in 1998 to encourage children to read and celebrate the joy of reading. It coincides with the birthday of beloved children's book author Dr. Seuss, making it a perfect day to read his books and other favorite stories. On this day, students, teachers, parents, and community members come together to participate in various reading activities, such as book readings, storytelling sessions, and book fairs.

For 2025, since March 2nd is a Sunday, it's likely that the celebrations will be held on the preceding Friday (February 28th) or the following Monday (March 3rd) to ensure students can participate. It's always a good idea to check with local schools and libraries to see when they plan to celebrate.

It's a wonderful way to promote literacy and the love of reading among children.
